Ukraine: Pentecostal Church created an organizing committee for 100th Anniversary
Сurrent plans and challenges facing the Ukrainian Pentecostal Church were discussed at a meeting of the Committee of the Ukrainian Pentecostal Church, reports the Pentecostal site of Ukraine. There is a need to introduce training programs for ministers (primarily pastors and deacons) on the subject of "pastoral counselling". There is a great need for this, especially among young people: the analysis of data during the current youth festival has shown it.
"After working with the youth during Malynfest, annual Pentecostal youth festival, we found out that there is a great need in counselling ministry in the Church, - says senior Bishop Mykhailo Panochko. And for that, we need to implement counselling practice in our churches more widely, do training of ministers."
Another issue is the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Pentecostal movement in Ukraine. There are two places for the main all-Ukrainian celebration event – Kyiv and Lviv. The final decision on it is planned to be approved during the next meeting of the Committee in early October, and whilst the membership of the event organizing committee has been agreed and the main guidelines for its activities have been outlined.
Another topical initiative is to convene the first all-Ukrainian conference of Christian teachers, and both school teachers and university professors, scientists, who attend the Ukrainian Pentecostal Church, will be invited. There was a proposal to hold such a conference in the autumn, during school holidays. "The analysis of recent events shows again: in the educational sphere, threats are growing every year, so teachers should join efforts to protect moral and spiritual values," - points out the website of the Pentecostals.
