Ukraine: National Security and Defense Council met with representatives of the Council of Churches
On April 25, a meeting took place between the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC), Oleksandr Lytvynenko and members of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations (AUCCRO). The meeting was also attended by the Chairman of the State Service for Ethnic Policy and Freedom of Conscience, Viktor Yelensky. This was reported by the IRS.
During the meeting, the parties discussed various aspects of the activities of Ukrainian Churches and religious organizations in the conditions of martial law. In particular, the importance of the service and status of clergy and pastoral, humanitarian, and psycho-spiritual activities of denominations during the war with the Russian aggressor were emphasized.
The participants of the meeting highlighted the importance of continuing the international activities of Churches and religious organizations regarding advocacy for Ukraine, conveying truthful information about Russian aggression and crimes to the world, and promoting support for Ukraine from various countries.
Achievements in the field of military chaplaincy since the adoption of the relevant law were noted during the meeting, and ways for further development of chaplaincy services in the Armed Forces of Ukraine were discussed.
The meeting was attended by heads and authorized representatives of the Ukrainian Bible Society, the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, the Roman Catholic Church, the All-Ukrainian Union of Evangelical Christian-Baptists, the Ukrainian Church of Christians of the Evangelical Faith, the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Ukraine, the Ukrainian Lutheran Church, the Spiritual Directorate of Muslims of Ukraine, the Spiritual Directorate of Muslims of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the Association of Jewish Religious Organizations of Ukraine, and the Institute for Religious Freedom.
