The complete archive of the Journal of the Moscow Patriarchate, nearly 100 years’ worth of back issues, is now available online. The issues can be found in two archive sections on the Journal website, covering 1931–1935 and 1943–2009 and 2010–2025. PDFs of new issues will be regularly added to the archives.
Evgeny Polischuk writes in an article on the history of the Journal: For many decades, the Journal was the only Church periodical in the Russian Orthodox Church – this determines its significance: it united all Church-literary forces – archpastors, clergy and laity. Outstanding domestic theologians, liturgists, art historians, Church historians, and Slavic scholars collaborated with the Journal at different times. Throughout all these years, it was the voice of the Russian Orthodox Church, bringing the word of evangelical good news to believers, an invaluable source of information about events in Church life. It made a substantial contribution to the preparation of future Orthodox Church clergy, to the Christian education and enlightenment of Church people, and to preserving the purity of our faith. In essence, throughout its entire existence, the Journal has been a chronicle of the Russian Orthodox Church. (Quelle: www.orthochristian.com, 19. Februar 2025)
