Member states condemned Russia for violating international law, including attacks on World Heritage sites. The UNESCO Executive Board adopted a resolution for an emergency assistance program for Ukraine. This was reported by LB.ua, citing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. "The member states of the Executive Board have reaffirmed their solidarity with Ukraine in addressing the consequences of Russia's full-scale war against our country. They called on the Director-General of UNESCO to continue systematically monitoring the situation in Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders and in line with the Organization's mandate," the statement reads.

During the discussions, the member states of the UNESCO Executive Board, along with the European Union delegation, emphasized the need for increased support for Ukraine and condemned the Russian Federation for its severe violations of international law.

In his remarks, the representative of Ukraine highlighted that thousands of educational and scientific institutions have been damaged or destroyed, and many researchers have been compelled to work outside the country. The media sector, which is facing systematic attacks, was also discussed. The meeting also addressed the destruction of Ukraine's cultural heritage sites. "At the same time, they emphasized that the scale of the challenges far exceeds the available resources, and international support must be strengthened," stated the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
