Das Erzbistum der orthodoxen Gemeinden russischer Tradition in Westeuropa ist offiziell in die Russische Orthodoxe Kirche (ROK) aufgenommen worden. Dies hat der Hl. Synod der ROK an seiner Sitzung vom 7. Oktober entschieden und ist so auf eine entsprechende Bitte des Erzbistums eingegangen. Bis Ende 2018 war das Erzbistum mit Sitz in Paris ein Exarchat des Ökumenischen Patriarchats gewesen, als Konstantinopel überraschend beschloss, das Exarchat aufzulösen.

In Minsk ist der Gründung des weißrussischen Exarchats des Moskauer Patriarchats vor 30 Jahren gedacht worden. Am Festgottesdienst auf dem Platz vor der Heiliggeist-Kathedrale am 29. September unter der Leitung von Metropolit Pavel (Ponomarjov) von Minsk und Exarchen für Belarus konzelebrierten alle weißrussischen orthodoxen Bischöfe sowie orthodoxe Bischöfe aus den Nachbarländern. Neben Geistlichen, Pilgern und orthodoxen Aktivisten nahmen auch mehrere staatliche Vertreter teil.
