Georgien: Priester wegen Mordversuchs an Sekretärin des Katholikos verurteilt

In Tbilisi hat ein Gericht am 5. September Erzpriester Georgi Mamaladze des versuchten Mordes und illegalen Waffenbesitzes für schuldig befunden. Er soll geplant haben, die Sekretärin von Katholikos-Patriarch Ilia II. zu vergiften. Ursprünglich hatte man ihn verdächtigt, einen Anschlag auf das Oberhaupt der Georgischen Orthodoxen Kirche selbst vorgehabt zu haben, was sich im Verlauf der Verhandlung aber als falsch herausstellte. Mamladze wurde zu neun Jahren Gefängnis verurteilt.
